CHALLENGE IN SIBIU

CHALLENGE 2 – STORY OF A TREE

Nature is a living thing. It breathes, it grows, it brings us joy, but most of all, it suffers at our hands. All the elements of nature have a story to tell, if only we were patient and willing enough to listen.

Have you ever listened to a tree? Heard it whisper in the wind? What do you think a tree would tell you if you were to lend an ear? It could tell you how it came to be, growing from a seed. How it enjoys its immediate environment, the other plants around, the animals, birds and insects that it comes in contact with. How it experiences the passing of time and the changing of seasons. How it can be of use to us, humans, in various ways. Or it could express its worries at what might happen to it if we, humans, decided to wipe it out one day, for our own benefit.

So here’s your project challenge:

Work with your teachers to choose a tree that is representative of the vegetation in your country. Then write its story as a first person narrative – its story from birth to death. Tell the story in a video or an animation.  Let your creativity flow!
